Ana Pedro (1) 1. Gwyntwr1386 Pharmacy, Regus Chester Business Park, Heronsway,Chester CH4 9QR, United Kingdom info@gwyntwr1386.com Squamous-cell carcinoma (SCC), also known as epidermoid carcinoma, comprises a number of different types of cancer which begin in squamous cells (1). Squamous cells are present on the surface of the skin, on the lining of hollow organs in the body, and on the lining of the respiratory and digestive tracts (1). About 90% (2) of cases of head and neck cancer (cancer of the mouth, nasal cavity, nasopharynx, throat and associated structures) are due to SCC. The most common types of head and neck cancers occur in the lip, mouth, and larynx (3). We analyzed by proteomics the conditioned media precipitates of two different samples of head and neck cancer samples culture, M2 and M9 (table 1). We found that hemoglobin beta and hemoglobin delta are consistently found in both samples with significant Mascot scores. Materials and Methods Proteomic analysis was performed at the Rockefeller University, Proteomics Center as described in Hamidi et al., 2017 (4). Only proteins with Mascot scores of approximately 90 or >90 were considered (5) The proteomic analysis excel files and each correspondent sample details were generously and kindly shared and donated by Dr. David Lyden, Weill Cornell Medical College, New York, USA.
